Birthday Dinner

 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills

Devonshire Street, Surry Hills

A late afternoon storm through Sydney into a tizz. And made me wonder about the wisdom of meeting Colin at Taylor Square.

But by the time the rain had cleared, the combination of the grey, stormy clouds and the late afternoon light left Surry Hills feeling somewhat transformed.

We were meeting at Taylor Square ahead of going to a Birthday Dinner at Verde, an Italian restaurant on Stanley Street.

Although I’ve been past it before, I’ve never been inside before. That’s a shame because it was bloody excellent.

In a meal which consisted of bruschetta and tiramasu (two of my favourites) at either end, Colin head veal which was plentiful (and to die for, apparently) while I had a seafood pasta dish which was excellent.

Although it was sometimes a little noisy – all of those tiled surfaces – it was great for a two-person birthday catchup.
