In case you’re wondering about the outcome of this, well here’s what I discovered this afternoon.

  1. Councils keep telling us about the many old and diseased elms and plane trees and the danger they pose. No doubt they get an arbourist’s report and rely on a professional opinion, but I am very suspicious about all this.

    1. There’s a school of thought that it’s about replacing introduced species with natives, though I don’t know if there’s much evidence to support the claim.
