As you may know, parts of Queensland, Australia are currently experiencing flooding, tornadoes and strong winds.
This has caused significant communication problems in that state, with phone lines out throughout much of North Queensland.
“We’ve been trying to contact him for hours”, a colleague told me tonight when I mentioned I’d made contact with him via Google Chat.
“You were the only person I knew who was online”, he told me when he saw me there.
Via the very “analogue” solution of holding up a mobile phone while a third party joined us, he was able to be in contact with his colleagues down south again who had been trying to contact him for hours.
Don’t you just love the internet? Oddly enough, more robust, than the phone network on occasion.
